Students headed out to our second “Where your food grows and grazes” field trip in Wilton at 5 Star Ranch. John Openshaw did an ultrasound presentation showing students how to determine pregnancy and beef quality. Mark Brum showed how to care for a horse’s foot and Abbie Nelson addressed animal welfare and nutrition. We finished our tour at the farm with Mark Nelson; who talked about horsed and Ag opportunities for employment.
After answering questions for students, they concluded the day by visiting their local Raley’s. Students were given a full store tour showing how food goes from the ranch to the grocery store.
